Our Story

OUR ORIGINS

South Africa

Created in 2017 by husband-and-wife entrepreneurs, Craig Hutchison and Maria Sehlstrom – Ceder’s joined Pernod Ricard in January 2021.

Ceder’s recipe has been developed by distilling both classic gin botanicals like juniper with more exotic botanicals like rooibos and buchu, sourced from the Cederberg Mountains of the Western Cape in South Africa – where Ceder’s gets its name.

OUR PRODUCTION PROCESS

A Step by Step Process

STEP 1

CURATING

The Ceder’s range is made using 15 botanicals, carefully selected for their specific flavours. Juniper and Coriander, for instance, are typically found in gins and make the perfect base for the 4 distinct flavour profiles of the Ceder’s range.

STEP 2

EXTRACTING

Each of the botanicals are then individually distilled into a concentrate to capture each unique flavour. Buchu and Rooibos are South African plants found in the Cederberg Mountains. In order to preserve their distinctly wild flavours, our distillers work on very small batches, ensuring great flavour.

STEP 3

BLENDING

These meticulously harvested and distilled flavours are then blended together to create the 4 distinct flavour profiles of the range.
Classic, Crisp, Rose and Wild are 4 successful combinations of some of the 15 Ceder’s botanicals, and they each have a very distinct personality whilst sharing 4 common elements:

0% ALCOHOL
0 SUGARx
And full of flavour!

OUR ENGAGEMENTS

A brand committed to global carbon neutrality

Every year, Ceder’s calculates its carbon emissions in order to mitigate its impact and offset the residual emissions.

This year, with the help of Climate Impact Partners, Ceder’s has chosen an offsetting project called North Cape Wind in South Africa, a country where Ceder’s sources botanicals such as Rooibos and Buchu for each of its recipes.

The renewable energy project is certified by the Verified Carbon Standard, an independent third party, and ensures carbon sequestration while considering local environmental issues.

Ceder’s – Partner of 1% for the planet

We’ve joined 1% For The Planet, and in doing so, have formalized our commitment to give 1% of our sales to biodiversity conservation charities.

This global movement inspires businesses and individuals to support environmental actions in order to give back the resources which they take from the Earth for profit.

Ceder’s is complex thanks to nature’s biodiversity and it’s only fitting that we give back to help protect biodiversity.
